Travel Information
Drive times from airport to Nevis Labs:
- La Guardia (LGA): 50 minutes
- White Plains Airport (HPN): 30-45 minutes
- John F. Kennedy (JFK): 75-90 minutes
- Newark Liberty (EWR): 75 minutes
All drive times are approximate and are dependent on traffic conditions.
Public transportation from airport to Nevis Labs:
- From LGA, take the M60 bus to Harlem/125th Street Metro North station, and from there take the Metro North train to Ardsley-on-Hudson station. Nevis Labs is a 10-minute walk from the station. Approximate travel time: 1.5 hours.
- From JFK, take public transportation (airtrain and subway) to Grand Central station, and from there take the Metro North train to Ardsley-on-Hudson station. Nevis Labs is a 10-minute walk from the station. Approximate travel time: 2 hours.
- From EWR, take public transportation (aitrain and amtrak) to Penn Station station, and from Penn Station take the subway to Grand Central station. From Grand Central station take the Metro North train to Ardsley-on-Hudson station. Nevis Labs is a 10-minute walk from the station. Approximate travel time: 2.25 hours.
How to get to Nevis Labs by car:
- Follow GPS to Nevis Labs Columbia University
The main entrance to the lab is easy to miss, but has a small white sign for Columbia University Nevis Laboratories. It is immediately adjacent to Adrsley Avenue West.
There is plenty of free parking available at Nevis Labs.
How to get to Nevis Labs by train:
- Nevis Labs is located within walking distance from the Ardsley-on-Hudson Metro North train station.
The train schedule for the Metro-North Hudson line is available online. Select trains leaving from either Grand Central or 125th Street Station or Marble Hill, and arriving at Ardsley-on-Hudson.
- From Columbia University: Take the 1 subway north to 225th Street. As you walk down the stairs from the elevated platform, note the location of the Metro North Marble Hill train station about one block to the west. The northbound train stops there hourly about 40 minutes after the hour during non-rush hours. Take the train north to the Ardsley-on-Hudson station and follow the directions below.
- From elsewhere in NYC: Go to Grand Central Station or the Metro North Harlem 125th Street station lcated at E 125th Street and Park Ave. Take the Metro North Hudson Line train northbound. During non-rush hours, this train leaves Grand Central hourly at 20 minutes after the hour. Get off at the Ardsley-on-Hudson station and follow the directions below.
From Ardsley-on-Hudson station (~10 minute walk): Take the left-hand road uphill (Ardsley Avenue West). Take the first asphalt driveway on the left to enter the Nevis estate. Follow the S-curve of the road to the right around the Cyclotron Building, and continue to follow the road as it bends to the left. When you see the main parking lot at the top of the hill, the Research Building will be on your left and the Nevis Science Center will be on your right.
